looking demure in dunure

With the recent beautiful weather we have been having up here spontaneous drives, bbq's and walks have been the activities to do, or at least be seen doing. So on an odd day off together my husband and I decided to drive somewhere scenic and fresh to take in the weather and skim stones in some sea water maybe? I dunno. So we ended up in a quaint little fishing village called Dunure 5 miles northwest of Maybole in Ayrshire. With its local harbour and the Castle on the cliff the sunshine kissed the lands of past perfectly and brought a smile to my wee coupon. We climbed the castle ruins and down onto the beach front and actually did throw skimming stones into the sea, however I throw like a bloody girl. Swear like a sailor too by the sounds of it. This little village was soooo worth the short half an hour drive and felt miles away from home. We finished off our evening as the sun set with fish and chips a la Dunure Inn styley to which I ravished far too quickly. All in all it was a wonderful day of sunshine, great scenery and pretending I was the queen of the castle. Bit drafty the ruins though so I went home to my good old central heating.

a list the length of my arm.

Seen as I have a million things to get done and have fixed in my house and pretty much everywhere else in my life I got myself a little white board from Tesco, at only a couple of my golden coins I purchased said whiteboard with pen and have indeed put it to great use. It is in need of some pretty customisation though and a bit of personalisation to be worthy of sitting next to my noble house phone. Maybe that will be my next project, after the cake, that and the whole list on the white board I suppose. Best get started then eh? mmmm cake. I could get Emma to make the cake while I paint my board? better not * faints *.

P.S. Just remembered my husbands input at the end,not bad Mr S not bad.

all the colours of the rainbow and a little bit of me

Wanting to prepare myself to get a little baking up and going as I was inspired by a few cake porn pictures I came across whilst looking at, well cake porn, do not judge, i was feeling sorry for myself (wisdom tooth yankage happened in the early hours) and this cake in particular caught my eye. My stomach too. Ladies and Gents I welcome you to the rainbow cake....

Whoever you are, wherever you are, however you made this, touch and pass on your godly baking skills to me. I can actually taste the rainbow!

When I get round to baking this piece of Bombay Indian wedding party in a cake I shall post it. If not I most probably ate the party, but never mind. The picture is sweet enough.

florence and the moisturiser

Browsing ever so diligently for something new and exciting on the skin care fore front, I squealed with silly excitement when I came across this beauty and it ticked all the boxes in my imaginary please me check list. I think you guys will love it too. Enough blabber I hear you say, what is this treasure you have found? well, I am a huge fan of Florence and the machine, her whole approach to creativity screams of Edwardian, whimsical grandeur with an echo of modern raaar with her spine tingling vocals she just can not do anymore to make me love her. That is until now. Florence and the machine have teamed up with the prominent skincare company Kiehls and has come up with the Florence and the machine creme de corps which is a limited addition re-design of the cult classic and is also supporting the teenage cancer trust with, get this, 100% of the net profits from sales going direct to the charity itself. Available in 250ml at £27 or 500ml at £44 pounds this gorgeous all over body moisturiser containing cocoa butter, sesame oil and beta-carotene sounds like a bloody dream for the skin. Go on. i hear by present my tastecard to thy Zizzi......

So Emma's birthday came along and what a way to celebrate it with a loverly meal with the girls at the gorgeous Zizzi in Cresswell lane just off Byres road. Being a tastecard holder myself (get it online guys) we were able to get a MASSIVE 50% off the banquet which was just special to me in ways I could really not express! first catching my eye when exploring our most loved lane in Glasgow with ooor loverly Emma our first glimpse was that of a beautiful glint shining out onto the cobbles of the lane, a gem that looked sliced and inserted into the brick based building surrounding it. Peering inside I loved what I saw immediately which was a blank canvas filled in partly with dashes of colourful furniture and artistic drawings that were all inspired by the Glasgow School Of Art. There were skylights flooding the inside with natural light but the cosiness of the place was not compromised, so the quirky Italian bistro, felt up market, cosmopolitan and trendy, yet comforting and homely, like coming home to an Italian mamas kitchen.

The menu itself had our mouths watering very quickly with offers of olives, dough balls and an Italian bread boards for starters and pastas, calzones and rissotos for mains. With real Gelato or almond fig tarts and torta cioccolata for pudding there were gasps of oohs and aaahs around the table as we sieved through the menu inch per inch.

We chose a fiorentina pizza. Each. Thankgod for the expandable waist band on my skirt as it could of got embarrassing! all in all it was well worth driving through 8 pot holes barely scraping by on petrol and rushing to make the time that I BOOKED THE BLOOMIN TABLE FOR in the first place!

Go check it out you cosmopolitan folk you!

Despicable me.....

Truth is i have writers block. Truth is, i am no writer atall,i type the way i speak which leaves alot to the imagination, sometimes not. I lead a very curious and some would say interesting life, i agree with the latter. I sit most days but infact i like standing, so this frustrates me to the point of becoming red faced which is actually unusual for me. I could write things in this everyday however i would most probably have world war 3 on my hands if i did. My hands by the way are wrecked, i bite them all the time and constantly get told off about it. I am 26 and my dad still tells me what i should and should not wear. My memory is so bad i fear that people don't believe me when i say, 'no really i have lost my car keys, again'. I say what i am thinking, mostly forgetting that peoples feelings can get hurt and i save what i really should say incase i hurt someones feelings. I have big decisions to make which will affect everything but i am avoiding them like the plague, maybe someone else can decide for me? no, it took around 25 years of experiencing lack of choice so it would be gutless to falter now. I don't know the correct answers to anything though. Ask me something and i will tell you the truth, whether you hear it is up to you. My brain has turned to mush doing repetitive things but without the repetitiveness i feel out of control. I have no energy, yet i burst to do things that need it and get angry when i have to use it. I am indecisive. I see the light but alot of the time it is actually quite dim. A work mate pulled a grey hair from my head last week and i felt nothing, no shame or annoyance or hopelessness. I am not alone but i feel all by myself. I sit and sit but i really want to stand. I have lost faith in people but some people give me hope. There is one rule for me and another for everyone else. I detest self pity. I like beautiful things and make sure everyone else has them. I am not a writer.
